Two Rivers and Strikes: Saturday Night

After a fun day in D.C., I picked up my parents on Saturday and rushed back to Maryland to get ready for my friend’s surprise birthday dinner at a local Pasadena Restaurant with delicious food.

I quickly ran to up to my condo where I FaceTimed my cousin to see what the attire of the evening was going to be for the group; casual dinner wear. I was sore from working out on Friday so I literally just wanted to be comfortable. I wore my FiveFour Bomber Jacket, FiveFour Black Graphic T, Gray Denim and Calvin Klein Leather Slides; easy and comfortable.

I hopped in the car and headed to the restaurant. Upon arriving at Two Rivers Steak and Fish House in Lake Shore Plaza, my cousins and I ran into the lobby to double check that the hostesses were fully prepared and aware of the surprise; everything was good to go.

We were directed back to our reserved tables and took our seats anxiously awaiting the arrival of the guest of honor. When he came, you could tell the surprise wasn’t ruined because he definitely seemed to know nothing about it! Surprise achieved, time to relax and enjoy dinner.

I didn’t realize it, but we’re all big appetizer fans! So many folks ordered crab dip – one of my friends let me try it and was pretty great; probably the best crab dip I’ve ever had! Creamy, lots of blue crab meat and wasn’t fishy at all; pretty delicious.

I ordered the shrimp and grits. It’s my favorite thing at this restaurant; my dad introduced me to that dish a couple of years ago and I find myself always thinking about it. It’s creamy, cheesy, buttery and high quality ingredients. The grits are cooked and seasoned so well that they taste like gourmet, expensive mashed potatoes topped with several LARGE jumbo shrimp.

A lot of grits haters tried a bite and immediately talked about how delicious it was. So good and I wish I could eat it everyday but it’s totally just a cheat treat.

The main courses ordered seemed to be a lot of steak; delicious steak. Another friend let me try their prime rib and their squash medley; amazing. So much flavor, cooked perfectly and just great overall.

I was filled up from the Shrimp and Grits so I ordered the signature steak salad for dinner with ranch dressing. I wasn’t too impressed with it but it was just the right amount for me to get filled up fully while also getting the fiber from the greens and the protein from the steak. I would totally get it for lunch again but probably not for dinner.

After the dinner ended, we headed over to our local bowling alley for some rock n’ bowl and drinks. It was fun! I haven’t been bowling in a while and I only go every once in a while because it’s not my favorite; but this was fun.

That was it. The end of Saturday. The reason I’m writing this very easy and nondramatic post is because it was such a breath of fresh air; no drama — all fun. It was relaxing and easy; kind of perfect in an interesting way. It makes me love weekends even more and I can’t wait for Friday to get here to celebrate the end of another week and catch up with family and friends yet again.

Even though we’re in the middle of the week, it’s fun times like these that I reminisce on how blessed I am and how grateful I am to be surrounded by such fun people. This world isn’t perfect but my little chunk of it seems to be that way every once in a while.
