I was at dinner the other night with some friends and they mentioned that there was a reality TV show based out of Arnold and Annapolis. Now me being the reality TV junkie, I knew if it was something local, then I’d watch it.
After some searching, I found out that the show was Our Little Family on TLC. I am a TLC fan because it provides with you with mostly-relaxing reality television that is focused around unique families. I knew I would definitely watch one episode to check it out and stick with it should I find it interesting.
After watching it, I’m sticking with it for sure.
Our Little Family follows the busy life of Dan and Michelle Hamill. They have three children; an older son named Jack (7) and two twin girls, CeeCee and Kate (3). They live in a quaint little townhome somewhere in the Annapolis/Arnold area and are full of life. Dan works a 9 to 5 while Michelle works a 24/7, being a stay-at-home mom. With the kids being so young, Michelle definitely has her hands full and shows everyone that being a stay at home mom is NO JOKE.
Did I mention what the “spin” on the show was? Well the entire family has the most common form of dwarfism, achondroplasia.
They talk about how they don’t really let it get in the way, they adapt to their surroundings and they are raising their children to live their lives to the fullest. They want their kids to see themselves just like everyone else; so they don’t treat them any differently than anyone else.
The show doesn’t involve them doing anything out of the ordinary; soccer games, frozen yogurt, fall festivals, birthday parties. You name it, they’re doing it and they’re having a blast.
It’s definitely on my new favorite show list.
Not only do I see them living their lives, but I also see my own backyard. So many great shots of Annapolis and Arnold. One of the episodes features a delicious frozen yogurt place that I’ve been to before and another features another favorite of mine; City Dock Coffee. The show conveys how great Maryland is and how much charm it’s filled with.
Our Little Family airs on Tuesdays on TLC. You should check it out; it’s awesome.
