Winter Storm: March 2015

The talk of the “land” today is the winter storm that we’re all currently in. Delmarva experienced quite a flux of snow today and it’s going to be nothing but cold that is following it up. Today is winter white, tomorrow will be icy blue.

Pretty much the entire area had a snow day today and it’s been so fun hearing from friends that they’re at home, under blankets, watching movies and drinking hot cocoa! I also like hearing from folks that they’ve been super productive! I did a little bit of both!

Started off with waking up at 530 to no snow but just rain. My favorite news station (WBAL Channel 11) kept saying “it’s coming though, it’s coming.” Knowing that I was already off, I turned back over shut my eyes and went into a very restful sleep. Woke up to a text message around 930 with my friend asking me if we wanted to go to the gym. With the snow now falling and a bed of white across my neighborhood, he gladly offered to drive me in his 4 wheel drive truck. We were heading there in about an hour.

I got up, headed to the kitchen and realized that it was Day 4 of my cleanse. I hurried to hop on the scale and was more than pleasantly surprised to find out that I was down 7.2 pounds (in 4 days)! AND I didn’t have to drink my fiber drink today but rather just take a probiotic instead. Yahtzee! :)…and I still have 6 days left!

Next was breakfast, I wanted to get a good source of protein so I went right for a shake and almond milk. Needed quick protein in my stomach and this was the easiest and quickest way for me to get it there.

I caught up on one of my Favorite “good-feeling shows” Ellen. That girl can really crack you up, build you up and teach you a lot. Everyone “be kind to one another!” Amen.

He picked me up and we headed to the gym where we met up with another friend. This wasn’t just any work out, it was a workout that kicked my butt but in all the right ways. I like being pushed to the max but I don’t like being pushed far over it to where working out doesn’t seem fun. This was fun.

Today we worked on back, lats, shoulders and core. I worked out until I basically couldn’t do anymore. My last set was supposed to be crunches, but I did three and fell off the damn bench. My friends and I laughed about that but the thing that was the greatest about this entire workout was the fact that NOT FOR ONE SECOND did I feel like they were judging me about my lack of “being fit.” I eat healthy but I’m working on building lean muscle. It was awesome and I can’t wait to go tomorrow. My friend really knows his stuff and I left there wanting my muscles to work better.

Feeling slightly dizzy from expending so much energy, per the direction of my friend, I went home, made another protein shake and cooked lunch. My goal for this meal was again, protein. My friend told me that you lose 30% of your workout results if you don’t feed your lean muscle. Well after how that workout went, I wasn’t about to lose 1%. So lunch was 2 scrambled eggs topped with organic salsa, buffalo chicken and some steamed broccoli. It was on point and awesome.

After lunch, I hopped in the shower to get more energized and woken up, cleaned up lunch and started brainstorming ideas for writing. Love writing this and I can see it being around for while! I’m also excited for some new things I have in the works.

I also played around with iPhoto and iCloud and realized that my picture collection that I thought was gone was actually stored in the “cloud” the entire time. It warmed my soul because of all of the good memories! Check your iCloud people…you never know what you may find!

The snow is still coming down still pretty heavy here near me, so I’ve been catching up on the DVR ever since. It’s nice to take a pause every once and a while and reflect on what your blessings are, what you can work on and what you want to work on.

I watched the 5pm news for a second and they indicated that again, it’s going to get worse. I think my favorite thing about the news on snow days is the sense of community you get from watching it. Their reporters are all over and they’re not talking about crime or hate, they’re just talking about how people are doing and what’s going on everywhere.

Next on the agenda is dinner, which I’m not really sure what it will be, but I’m thinking a nice bowl of the white bean chicken soup I made earlier this week, with a side of apples/pb2 and some lemon water. It’s easy and the perfect meal for this day.

Going to finish out this evening with my thoughts, the heat, my DVR and the premiere of season 2 of another goofy reality show that starts at 9. Anyone know what it is? 🙂

I hope that everyone had a great day, stayed safe and warm, and even if you did have to work, I hope it was lighter than your normal Thursday.
