Spicy Soy Garlic Brussel Sprouts

I’ve always HATED brussel sprouts. A lot. But recently they seemed to have come up in several cases where they’ve been pretty good. Everyone talks about roasted sprouts being delicious and the first time that I had them where I found them to be delicious was at Grill Fire at Arundel Mills. They are oven roasted and topped with a sweet and spicy thai chili sauce. I could have eaten the whole bowl if I hadn’t been sharing them with a group.

Again, on the healthy eating kick, I tried to make a healthy side that is comparable to the flavors that I liked in the sprouts that I had; I found something I loved.

What you’ll need:

1 Steamer bag of sprouts (make sure no butter or salt added)

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp ginger

1 tsp red pepper flakes

1 tbsp bragg aminos

1 tbsp olive oil

First you’ll steam your sprouts, for this bag, all I had to do was put it in the microwave for 5 minutes.

After I was done and let them cool for a second, I cut them into two and laid them cut-side down on a cookie sheet, I drizzled them with olive oil and sprinkled on all of the seasonings.

I then let them broil for about 10 to 12 minutes until I saw a deep brown crisp on the sprouts. I pulled them out of the oven, let them cool and then transferred them to a container, I added the braggs and stirred them up. I did not cover them but in fact let them cool in order to avoid them getting mushy.

They are delicious! They have a little bit of a spicy bite to them but also have the garlic and soy sauce flavor with a little crisp! These pair well with any meal but my favorite thing to pair them with so far is any type of wrap with hummus. The hummus in the lettuce wraps compliments the spice from the sprouts. Will definitely make these in the future and they’re super healthy!
